The Simple Things In Life
Chiropractor Torrance CA Dr Taylor The Simple Things In Life

Yesterday, we celebrated Christmas in our home with all the family.

All the older boys came over early, we had a nice breakfast together, talked about the greatest gift of Christ being born, opened presents, lounged around the house the rest of the day, ate dinner, and watched a family movie together (The Quiet Man with John Wayne & Maureen O'Hara).

It was like the perfect Christmas day for the Taylor family and yet we did not do anything extraordinary.

The older I get, the more I appreciate days like yesterday.

What made it so special was that it was so simple and the most important thing we did was socially connect with one another in a relaxed environment.

Over the past 9 months, we have been told by others to do the opposite of what our family did yesterday, and this has led to much fragmentation in relationships which can have a negative impact on health.

In fact, when you study the life of those who live to 100 or more, one of their longevity secrets typically center around social and emotional factors including expressing love, nurturing strong family and social ties, and being involved in their community.

As we head into the New Year, it is a good time to think about our health and what activities we want to incorporate more of in 2021.

Here are 3 suggestions to consider that will have a positive impact on your health in the upcoming days.

  1. Start increasing your physical activity levels where you are getting some type of physical activity for 20 minutes 3-5 x week. It does not have to be arduous or difficult but make it enjoyable.
  2. Start eating twice as many organic vegetables with healthy fats, lean meats in moderation, AND less proteins, carbohydrates, and sugars, including fructose while getting at least 20 min of daily sunshine.
  3. Enjoy spending time with loved ones while maintaining a positive mindset and living in the moment while not being anxious about the future.

Your health is an ongoing investment in your future that affects everything you do and everyone you know. Each day do something that will improve the outcome of your well-being and you will be happy you took the time to do so.

Have a restful weekend!
