As I was sitting at my computer this morning, my 6-year-old daughter came up to me and quietly climbed into my lap. She pulled out a piece of paper and started drawing a picture of her mom. As she focused intently on her drawing, I couldn't help but smile at how peaceful and content she was, creating something that expressed how much she loves her mom.
In that moment, I realized how easily we can get caught up in our busy days, forgetting to take time for the simple, important moments in life.
We often fall into the habit of starting our days by rushing headlong into tasks we deem important, our feet barely hitting the floor before we're off to the races. But in doing so, we risk overlooking what truly matters.
We need to guard against this temptation and ask ourselves: Are these tasks really as important as they seem? Or should we slow down and focus first on the things that matter most-those moments that connect us to the people we love and give our lives deeper meaning?
Just like we often rush through life focusing on what seems urgent, we tend to do the same with our health-ignoring discomfort or stress until it forces us to pay attention. Like my daughter taking the time to draw a picture of her mom, we need to slow down and prioritize our well-being. By doing so, we create balance, allowing us to be more present for the people and moments that matter most.
Have a Terrific Thursday!
