A Costly Mistake…

Last night, my wife and I took our kids to see Santa Claus in the Riviera Village while supporting our local businesses.

Afterwards, we decided to get a bite to eat, then I picked up a few items at the grocery store.

As I was shopping, my son, Hudson, gave me a call.

He told me his patient got rear-ended on the freeway after we all left the office for the night. He encouraged his patient to get in as soon as possible.

Why?

The simple answer is because the sooner you can properly address the imbalances caused by a car accident, the less problems you will face and the faster you will recover.

The biggest & costliest mistake people make after they are in a car accident is not getting checked out and immediately correcting the problems caused by the accident.

The two most common problems caused by an auto accident are:

1) The adhesive scar tissue that forms from the micro tears that occur in the soft tissues ...muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia (most physicians completely ignore this problem)

2) Undiagnosed/Undetected Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) (rarely addressed by doctors).

Both problems can create imbalances that get stuck in the body and in the process wreak major havoc to a person's health, sometimes causing lifelong challenges.

For example, my patient, Elsa, was sitting at a red light almost two years ago when her car was T-boned from the side.

She started experiencing symptoms from the accident almost immediately.

What were her symptoms?

Neck pain, back pain, shoulder pain, insomnia, vertigo, headaches...in fact, her head was so sensitive she could not take a shower without the water pressure causing her pain.

She lived on 500mg of Tylenol every two hours for over a year just to get through the day.

The pain was so bad she could not sleep at night. She would wake up every 30 minutes and was a zombie during the day.

One night, she was so desperate to get sleep she took two muscle relaxers before going to bed and did not wake up till 3PM the next day.

This scared her as she thought she could have died.

She could not think properly. Her friends told her she looked horrible.

She went to five different doctors from MD's to DC's, but no one ever addressed the problems caused by the accident.

The best remedy according to one MD was to put her on anti-depressants, but it changed her personality, so she stopped taking them.

After suffering like this for over a year and a half, in desperation, her family strongly urged her to try a different option.

After searching the internet, she decided to give our office a call.

Even after the first visit, her body started responding immediately to breaking up the adhesive scar tissue caused by the accident and reducing inflammation surrounding the brain.

It never ceases to amaze me how the body can begin to heal and repair itself once the interferences preventing it from recovering are removed.

In a short period of time, she was able to get a full night's rest (see video above).

She also started getting off the 500mg of Tylenol that was impairing her body's own ability to heal.

Her kids told her they were happy to see their mom return as she is more back to her normal self, and recently she has been able to return to work.

It has been estimated that 80-90% of the population have had some form of Traumatic Brain Injury at least once in their lifetime.

Most of these injuries are mild and heal on their own, but you need to understand that even mild forms of TBI can have lingering effects that can become chronic unless you address them.

If you or a loved one has been in a car accident or any other type of traumatic injury or situation where you hit your head, make sure you don't overlook the telltale signs of TBI...

...change in personality

...more moody

...acting differently

...inability to concentrate

...hard time focusing

...irritability

...sleep problems

...less motivation

Life is too short to be living like this and if any of these symptoms appear, it is important to take care of them immediately, so they do not cause you to have future problems.

Have a Fabulous Friday!
